Details

Tell the story of how your character came to have their Wind powers. Here are some themes to get you inspired, but you aren't required to stick to them, and can make up your own titles/stories/themes if you like.

  • Change in the Wind
    • Your character is outside going about their day when they sense a change. The wind goes quiet, then switches out of nowhere, and a strange feeling is pulling at them from far off in the distance.
  • Journey
    • Do they follow the call?  Where does it lead them?
  • TheTask
    • Your character faces a challenge; an impossible task from a bored deity, an enchanted item hidden a magical maze—what have they found, and how do they face this challenge?
  • One With the Wind
    • Your character now has power over the wind. How do they choose to use this new power? Do they embrace their new magic, or are they afraid?

Submission Requirements

Option 1: Art
  • 4 full-color scene pieces with full background (follow the Background Requirements). At least 2 of the images must show your character fullbody, or mostly-fullbody.
  • At least 3 compositional thumbnails for each piece—should at least have value/shading (12 total)
  • One moodboard/image board/pinterest board with at least 6 inspiration images. 
    The moodboard can include art you like, mood, composition, style or color reference, landscape references etc. You can put these straight onto your canvas as you work, but keep looking back at these as you make your thumbnails & art.

    • Perhaps your character tries to rid themselves of their Fire powers, only to find that they can't. How do they handle this realization?
  • Rekindling
    • With new conviction, your character has accepted their powers and now is trying to repair the damage they've done, or at least make up for it. How does this pan out?

    • Deep in the ocean, they gain the power to breathe underwater, and to manipulate water around them. But what was calling them, and how did they gain this power?
  • Return to the Surface
    • What does your character do now that they have power over Water? Do they return to shore and their normal life, or do they uproot themselves to live by the sea?

  • Life Finds a Way
    • It is a stark reminder to your character that everything lives and dies when they happen upon the damage caused by a wildfire. But what is that—new shoots in the ashes? Does your character see the beauty in the cycle of life?
  • New Growth
    • What does your character do now that they have power over Plants? Do they turn over a new leaf, no matter who they were before this adventure, or do they return to their ordinary life?

Affinity quests grant your character special elemental powers and features. This quest contains four prompts—in order to complete the quest, you must create a response for each prompt, four pieces in total, that tell a story together.

Prompt

  • Promise of Treasure
    • Your character has entered an abandoned mine shaft after hearing tales of buried treasure and a king's ransom in precious jewels still remaining in the mine, or perhaps there is a reward promised to the one who finds the active vein. 
  • Spelunking
    • Mining is hard work—how does your character manage? Are there mishaps, or are they a seasoned spelunker?
  • Caught in the Caverns
    • Danger finds your character—a rockslide, a collapsed ceiling, rival spelunkers, a furious deity. What happens, and how does your character handle the obstacle?
  • Striking Gold
    • Your character has found the promised treasure, and it has transmuted their magic, giving them power over Crystals. How do they react, and what do they plan to do? Will they turn to this power to make a living, or will they hide it in fear that others might try to manipulate them?

  • Frostbite
    • It's too cold here, and your character is freezing to death. How do they surmount this obstacle—are they saved by a friend, a stranger, or a deity? Or do they succumb to the lure of sleep, thinking this will be their demise?
  • Conquering the Cold
    • How does your character gain their power over Ice, and do they use it to save themselves? What do they plan to do afterwards—will they go home, or will they make a new home here?

    • Your character awakens with new power over Dreams. What do they choose to do with these new powers? Do they turn to mischief, or do they soothe those afflicted with nightmares?

    • Your character seeks out the power of darkness in some form. Perhaps they seek to revive the dead, or they are trying to fight their own way back to life after a near-fatal accident. What form does this darkness take, and how did they hear about it?
  • Dealing with the Devil
    • Everything comes with a cost. What does your character sacrifice for this power, and is it a difficult decision to make?
  • Endings
    • Is the outcome of this story victorious, bittersweet, or tragic? Has your character managed to move on from that unfortunate event, or are they trapped in a downward spiral of darkness?  Do they try to hide their newfound power over Shadow, or do they embrace it?

Your character gains the ability to shapeshift to look like different species. They can change their form but their color palette & markings will stay mostly the same. Markings can shift & become simplified, or more complex, as they change forms.

  • Discovery

    • What does their journey look like? Is it a physical journey, or an examination of self? Both? What do they find?
  • Change
    • How do they receive this power? Is it an enchanted item, a magic beetle, a tired Shapeshifter who no longer wants the burden of Shapeshifting?
  • Life as a Shapeshifter
    • Does it take them time to get used to their newfound Shapeshifting powers? Are they fully in command, or do they make mistakes—mismatched ears, a tail instead of legs, limbs where no limbs should be? How does it affect their daily life?
