Sometimes, I used to make something really similar to these when I was a kid, but most of the time I'd have these, they came from a local ah-ee's* old family business. Some of my favorite childhood memories involved the smell of these rolls fresh from a streetside shop's oven and a light, slightly humid rain slicking the Chinatown streets and sidewalks. They're so nostalgic to me <3
*I don't know how to translate this into continental US American English, LOL. It's like "auntie" as a more familiar kind of honorific, if that makes sense?
