Short Rest

A shadow fell over Klez, and a trabble sat beside him.

He gave a smile and tried to wave the trabble off. If Abalone had sent them, they'd need not worry. He was doing fine.

The trabble gave him a look (Klez couldn't tell if it was judgement, pity, or indifference. That was the problem with trabbles and their hidden faces.) and simply said the Klez didn't need to spare their feelings.

Klez narrowed his gaze, tried to convey annoyance and "please just go". Why did they bother coming to check on him then, he asked.

The human. The trabble responded. She was full of anxious glances for the irrabask huddled apart from the rest (and he had done a terrible job of hiding himself behind a rock) and she had been about to check on Klez herself.

The trabble paused.

They said had no business or interest in his feelings (Ok. Ouch.) but they did like the quiet (like he did). They wanted this trip to be as least irritating as possible, and if they could do that by giving Klez an excuse to get some rest away from the group, they would do so.

What was the excuse then, he asked. (...was there some hidden trap in this?)

The trabble gave their version of a shrug. Looking at the scenary, they replied 

That got Klez to laugh a bit. And the trabble kept their word about keeping quiet afterwards.

Evening descending into night. Distant shouts and screams came from their group behind them, who were supposedly setting up camp. Klez let himself sit without smiling though, and rested his head on the closest thing he had to knees. His two mothmins huddled close to him, silent yet soft.

It wasn't quite peaceful, but maybe it was close enough.
